The Importance of “Whole Beauty”
It’s difficult for me to know where to start with this topic. Changing my personal beauty routine has been a slow process. I’m extremely fortunate to live in an educated community that is highly mindful of food choices and why organic and natural options are essential to a balanced, healthy life. And as I started becoming more aware of the importance of what I put in my body, I also became more aware of the importance of choosing better options in terms of what I was putting ON my body.
It became a significant part of my life when I started hearing horror stories from stylists in my industry who were developing severe allergies and becoming physically ill from over-exposure to products they were using in their work life. Since I love my career and I want to do what I love for a very long time, I started educating myself.
I don’t think it’s my job to tell you about all the scary things out there. However, if you’re interested in educating yourself about better beauty choices and why it’s important, the book No More Dirty Looks by Siobhan O’Connor and Alexandra Spunt is a great place to start. They also started an online community called “The Detox Market”, which reviews products and can help you make better, “green” choices.
To me “better beauty” means beauty products that contain the purest and most natural ingredients possible. So when I opened Midwest Beauty House, I vowed to carry styling products and hair color that I believed in and could stand behind. That’s why I chose Oway and Neuma.
Both companies care about providing transparency in the ingredients they use, choosing the most natural ingredients possible, sustainability for our environment and fair trade—all things I also care about and want MBH to be known for.
I want to be a resource for you. I want you to know that as a customer of MBH we’ve already done the research for you. You can be confident in knowing that we have chosen the best for you because we vow to support companies that stand for what we believe in…better, cleaner, greener beauty. So, if you’re ready to start the year off right by feeding your body healthy, whole foods, don’t forget the importance of “whole beauty”—and we’ll be right here to help you.
Wishing you a beautiful year in 2018!
