How long have you seen your Beauty Operators?
Alice and Miss Robyn have been doing my hair for almost 12 years. Ashley has given me amazing pop culture nails for a few years as well, everything from junk food to Beavis & Butt-Head. Also, Alyssa recently gave me the most amazing eyelashes and make-up application.
What is your favorite MBH beauty shop memory?
It was late at night before the original location had opened, Alice snuck me in to see how the shop turned out. I was very proud of my friend and all her hard work. I just remember thinking, ‘this looks like Alice’!
What do you love most about your hair and nails?
I have had just about every hair color, drastic hairstyle changes, makeup application questions, and elaborate manicures. These ladies have been there to help me out with all my ideas! They are very supportive and have always helped my with my ideas about beauty.
What is your current style icon/inspiration or favorite fashion role model?
My all time beauty idols are the original Vampira and Wanda Woodward from Cry Baby. As for style, I’m definitely influenced by 80s glam and thrash metal, 80s horror movies, and tv. I grew up watching music videos (MTV’s Headbangers Ball) and sitcoms; they really had an impact on my closet!
What is your favorite or most used beauty product?
I refuse to leave the house without lipstick, usually red (KVD liquid lip in Outlaw), no matter where I am going, even the pool. I started sneaking it to school in 6th grade because I thought it was very glamorous.
What do you love most about Madison?
I love being able to walk or ride my bike to all my favorite places so easily – it’s not stressful to get around.
What are some of favorite local business?
Why is receiving beauty services important to you?
Receiving beauty services just makes you feel good and can totally turn your day around. I love learning hair, makeup and beauty secrets anytime I can. Also, it’s a great moment to relax and catch up with my friends.
What does Better Beauty Culture mean to you?
I feel that beauty or receiving a beauty treatment should never be an intimidating experience, especially when walking into that environment. It is important to feel comfortable and have your stylist/artist understand you. I never want to feel nervous or uncertain about receiving a service. Alice has such a great welcoming spot for people to pop in and just to even say hi.
