MBH Client Feature: Christian Herro

We couldn’t wait to share our first male MBH client feature! Christian is a long-time friend and client of Alice’s, and he’s got great style and great hair! After ten years following Alice around Madison, he’s happy she landed at Midwest Beauty House (and so are we). Here’s a bit more about Christian – we think you’ll love him as much as we do.

Meet Christian:

How long have you been an MBH client?

“I had been a client of Alice’s previously, and I was excited to hear that she was creating this space, so I jumped onboard.”

What is your favorite MBH beauty shop memory?

“Every time I’m at MBH is a fun time. My favorite thing is how I was randomly assigned to Alice ten years ago and we got along so well right away that I ended up following her to a few different stops.”

What do you love most about your hair?

“Despite appearances to the contrary, I don’t think about my hair all that much. I like that it’s easy to style, and that it looks good without much effort”

What is your current style icon/inspiration or favorite role model?

“My grandfather and my dad. They have both provided models of patience, compassion and perseverance. And my grandfather had some pretty stylin’ suits.”

What is your favorite or most used beauty product?

“Surface Dry Wax is my go-to. It’s got a lot of hold, but doesn’t look or feel over the top.”

What do you love most about Madison/the Midwest?

“Summer in Madison is always incredible: biking, music, festivals, having a drink at the Union or on a bar patio. More than that, people are more relaxed than in other places I’ve lived, and it’s easy to get to know new people.”

What is another favorite local business of yours?

“There are so many. I’m Board! Games in Middleton is an excellent store that is succeeding by providing quality service in a market where lots of other small retailers have having a hard time. The tacos at the Ohio Tavern are amazing. Mint Mark(though I still haven’t had the incredible-sounding chicken biscuit), and Megan’s Custom Framing on Winnebago.”

Why is receiving beauty services important to you?

“Regularly getting a haircut keeps me feeling collected and confident. Maintaining or updating your appearance and style (whatever they may be) seems to be very connected to how we feel about ourselves.”

What does “better beauty culture” mean to you?

“It means that everyone (women and men) should be comfortable taking pride in their appearance. Whether you only need a few minutes in the morning or spend a lot more time preparing, it’s important to take that time for yourself and feel ready to face the challenges of the day.”
